Biography

n187300836_30265685_9470-1I was born in New York in 1982, and by the age of two I was hitting the slopes. The minute my tiny feet felt the snow flowing underneath my skis I was hooked. It was at that moment when I would begin my endless pursuit to become a professional skier.

Over the course of my childhood I would travel a few times a year with my family to Colorado and Utah to emulate the local styles and try and push my skiing beyond the geographical boundaries of the East. Finally in 2000 I headed to the University of Colorado, Boulder. There I met up with a local group of freeheelers called “The Front Range Powder Factory”. With this group I would do endless days of touring, lap A-Basin, and live the life I had always dreamed.

By the time my four years in Boulder were up I had honed my skills as a big mountain freeheeler enough to try my hand at competing. I traveled to Crested Butte to enter the US Extreme Telemark Championships. There I would make it through to the semifinals. My experience there continued to fuel my desire to become a professional Freeheel athlete.

Over the next two seasons I became a regular at the tele comps, enjoying the competition, the community, and the sense of progression. During that time period I also moved to Park City, Utah in search of finding deeper snow, steeper lines, and ultimately a huge freeheel community. From that day I moved into town I began networking myself; finding out what organizations and companies were looking for a freeheel athlete, who would work to progress their image and infuse a sense of excitement throughout the community. Through hard work and persistence I have achieved my dream of becoming a professional freeheel skier.

Currently, I ski for Rossignol, Trew Gear, Back Country Access, CW-X, Backcountry.com, TwentyTwo Designs, Alta, The Canyons Resort, Lipstick Films, and Freeheellife.com. I also coach a youth telemark program called the PC Tele Tribe, as well as take part in competitions and tele festivals all over the country.

Being a Freeheel athlete for me is all about pushing beyond expectation, creating your own style, living in the moment of each turn, and growing a community that will continue to fuel our industry.DSC_0315
